The virtual address space of processes and applications is still limited to 2 GB unless the /3GB switch is used in the Boot.ini file. While the maximum RAM limit for 32-bit Windows 7 editions is 4GB, when it comes to the 64-bit editions, the amount of memory that the OS can address depends on which edition you are running. And if you add another 1GB of RAM to your computer, you should be able to experience the full power of it only if your on Windows 7 64-bit.
