    shutdown command not found

    Hello
    I would like to shutdown my computer differently rather than root. but fails to shutdown if i give a command telling "command not found" to shut down from a user. but it works when i switch to root.
    now please help me to shutdown from my user "x".

    any helps will be greatly received...

    I'm not pretty much good in linux,since am mainly acclimatized to windows only but i used it for some 4 or 6 months for a variety then again switch back to windows i guess It's a superuser command normally only root is allowed to use it. it is the answer you looking for...

    Am confused but if your a regular user, most likely there's a probability the user doesn't have rights to make use of that command.

    you can type $PATH to show a user current path.
    modify your /etc/profile or .bashrc , .bash_profile to your user's home directory to add permanent path's to certain profile

    Well i have the solution for you..
    /sbin/shutdown -h 0 (h being halt,power down, and 0 being the time in minutes)
    /sbin/shutdown -r 0 (for a reboot.)
    But halt -p will also do the same
