    Fast User Switching stopped working

    hi,

I think the Fast user switching feature has been stopped working in my PC. There are 3 user accounts in my PC. When I am logged-on in one user and try to switch user, it doesn't really switch to different user but just returns the welcome screen.

Infact, for logging on another user, I need to logoff current user. Why is fast user switching feature not working ? What I have to do to get fast user switching working back ?

To resolve the problem and restore Fast User Switching, you will need to reset the GinaDLL entry. Follow these steps:

    • Click Start --- select Run --- type REGEDIT
    • Navigate to the following key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows NT \ CurrentVersion \ Winlogon
    • Backup the key by exporting to a file.
    • In the right pane, right-click GinaDLL --- click Delete.
    • Note - You need to remove the whole value, not just its Value Data
    • Close Registry Editor

Check whether this helps to solve your problem.....

    • Start > Run > type regedt32 > press Enter.

    • Navigate to this key:
    • System Key:[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon]
    • Value Name: AllowMultipleTSSessions
    • Data Type: REG_DWORD (DWORD Value)
    • Value Data: (0 = Disable Fast User Switching, 1= Enable)

    • In the right hand pane, right click AllowMultipleTSSessions > select Modify > change the Value to 1

Note: Modifying Registry can be dangerous, so rightclick on winlogon and select export to save a backup.

This feature may have been disabled in your PC

You will need to check whether Welcome Screen & Fast User Switching is Enabled from Control Panel

    do this,

    | Control Panel | >> | User Accounts | >> |Change the way users log on and off | >> | Enable Welcome Screen & Fast User Switching|
