Hi,

New motherboard installed but windows wont boot.
I had replaced my gigabyte motherboard with asus 2 days ago.
Can anyone please let me know what I need to do in the registry to avoid the windows xp from not booting in normal mode.
I know I have to boot in safe mode & tweak in the registry related to the drivers.

Please guide me in correct direction.

Different motherboards fails at different points with different messages or just get stuck with no message.
If you have hdd with xp from one pc & connected it to another system with different chipset then windows wont boot.
Most of the time doing a repair install of windows xp solves the problem.

I would clear the CMOS, and let the BIOS re detect all hardware.
You must load windows from scratch if you have made any change in your hardware specially the motherboard. The reason windows wont load is that windows is configured for old motherboard & hardware.
You need to reinstall windows XP to work.

Changing the motherboards often ends up with a new chipset - i.e. motherboards may have different I/F chips for IDE drives. While changing the hard drive you might be tempted to make a few other changes to the system such as rearranging the hard drives or switching the IDE channel the CD drive is attached to. Resist temptation and leave things exactly as they were until you complete the procedure successfully.
