    HpUpdate.msi missing

I am getting a pop up window that is destinations.msi is missing and it is showing that you are trying to view a file that is online. I have tried a system restore but it says after the reboot that it was unsuccessful due to an error (doesn't say what the error was). I have no idea what update this file belongs to. Does anyone know what is this and how to fix it? I use windows xp?

This happens because of changing C: drive to a different letter or moving the hard disk drive from one computer to another. Go to settings in Control Panel > Internet Options > Advanced tab > Browsing section that enable or disable the "Install on Demand" feature for Internet Explorer and other programs. This acts like program installations that leave some optional features or components set as "Install on First Use". Other possible causes are a damaged or corrupted hard disk or registry file.

Windows Installer CleanUp Utility might be able to help. You can use the utility to remove installation information for programs that were installed by using Windows Installer. Be aware that Windows Installer CleanUp Utility will not remove the actual program from your computer. However, it will remove the installation files so that you can start the installation, upgrade, or uninstallation again.

This happens because the computer's registry becomes corrupted.

    - A registry setting that is used by the Windows Installer is
inadvertently changed, and this change results in a problem.

    - The installation of a program that uses Windows Installer (for
example, Microsoft Office 2003) is interrupted.

    - There are multiple instances of a setup program running at the same time, or
an instance of a setup program is "blocked."

Solution : Remove remove Windows Installer and then install it again. Afterwords restart the pc, you will be able to update.
