Trouble in installing Windows XP Pro using BootCamp

Hi everyone.
I'm trying to install Windows XP Pro, using BootCamp,on my default 32 GB partition. it shows the list of existing partitions on my Mac, where I'm supposed to select "C:partition3<BOOTCAMP>FAT32"
I get "Unknown Disk"but there is no disk in this drive.

If I press the up or down arrow, I get a message that says a problem occurred and windows has shut down in order not to damage your computer. And then I have to restart and hit the option key to get back to OSX. My software is up to date and I have a current back up on my external drive. done verification on the disk and repaired disk permissions.but i don't know Windows XP Pro does not see my drives.

please i need help on this...

Re: Trouble in installing Windows XP Pro using BootCamp

with version 2.0 of Bootcamp you have to install XP SP2 and then upgrade to SP3 later after you have updated Bootcamp. Not sure which Bootcamp you have but this could be part of the reason...

Re: Trouble in installing Windows XP Pro using BootCamp

When you install Windows, format the partition and then install it.but am totally un aware of Boot Camp doesn't format the partition for you.If you proceed without formatting, it will "install" but then Windows won't be able to recognize it because it is formatted HFS+ format

good luck....

Re: Trouble in installing Windows XP Pro using BootCamp

dude try this out
Boot up in OS X, Fire off Bootcamp 1.2
make a driver CD if you dont have one already
Restore the partition to a single volume
Using bootcamp partition the drive for windows

now the partition isfine to use bootcamp to continue with windows installation.
In the windows installation prompts, choose the last partition marked by C: and do a complete format using NTFS and install

System will boot a few times and will automatically start windows as needed. Once all is done, run the driver CD to install all the drivers. All my devices were installed perfectly fine.

Once this is done, download and install all windows updates

good for you
