How can i boot into DOS mode

I had installed Windows XP as my operating system. I would like to know that how can i boot into dos in order to access files from my system hard disc. So, can any body tell me that how can i boot into dos mode? Is it possible for me to do so? Kindly provide me the correct solution for the above issue.

According to me you might be able to boot into Safe Mode with Command Prompt. From WinXP, you can click also used the Command Prompt in order to enter a "DOS" window, which looks like MS-DOS but in reality it is an emulation that runs within WinXP. For that you can use WinXP in order to create an MS-DOS startup diskette, but it will not be able to read NTFS volumes (without a third-party utility), so you can't do much with it, except maybe flash an update into your BIOS.

I don't think that Windows Xp would be able to boot into Dos mode. It is recommended that the Network Administrator get into the MS-DOS prompt by using either a standard MS-DOS boot diskette. As Windows XP is totally based on the Windows NT kernel, which is independent of DOS.

For your kind information Windows XP is NT based and not DOS based. It only emulates DOS. Windows XP users who are unable to boot the computer into Normal Windows mode or Safe mode can also enter the recovery console to manage their computer from a prompt.
