Vertical Lines on Screen in windows vista

I am running windows Vista on my computer. It doesn't work fine, i was installing photo editing software and vista stop responding. After completing 60% installation screen shows lots of vertical line and black screen appeared. Can anyone help?

What Graphics Card are you using? What software were you installing at that time? Most likely it's a screen problem. Connect your monitor to another machine, if the Desktop displays properly the problem is with the screen(moniter).

Have you tried reinstalling the video drivers or changing resolution? Open the computer and clean out all dust. Check all the fans which causes overheating, Uninstall the video card and swap it out for a known working one. Uninstall drive for video card. If the windows vista install fails because of a graphics problem, it sounds like your hardware is at fault.

Lots of lines on screen in vista may occur if the application you are trying to run is not supported by the vista. Try setting the video properties to the native resolution of the screen.
