To resolve this issue, follow these steps:
    • Put the Windows XP CD ROM disk in the CD ROM drive.
    • Click Start, and then click Run.
    • Type expand X:\i386\rundll32.ex_ c:\windows\system32\rundll32.exe in the Open box, where X is the letter of your CD ROM Drive.
    • Restart the computer.

File rundll32.exe is located in the folder C:\Windows\System32. Rundll32.exe is used internally by Windows for a variety of DLL functions not exposed to the PC user, The most useful of these DLLs is shell32.dll. The rundll32.exe file operates by parsing the command line.

Windows cannot find rundll32.exe error can rarely appear without any virus infection on your PC. Use the search tool to see if the rundll32.exe is actually present on your system somewhere or missing. You may also try to use System Restore to restore your system to the state where there was no Windows cannot find rundll32.exe problem at all.
