After installing windows xp i have noticed when i open any application windows display message "windows can not find rundll32.exe...." Is there any to stop rundll32.exe file running at start up. I don't know what to do, please help.
To resolve this issue, follow these steps:
- Put the Windows XP CD ROM disk in the CD ROM drive.
- Click Start, and then click Run.
- Type expand X:\i386\rundll32.ex_ c:\windows\system32\rundll32.exe in the Open box, where X is the letter of your CD ROM Drive.
- Restart the computer.
File rundll32.exe is located in the folder C:\Windows\System32. Rundll32.exe is used internally by Windows for a variety of DLL functions not exposed to the PC user, The most useful of these DLLs is shell32.dll. The rundll32.exe file operates by parsing the command line.
Windows cannot find rundll32.exe error can rarely appear without any virus infection on your PC. Use the search tool to see if the rundll32.exe is actually present on your system somewhere or missing.
