How much virtual memory should i use?

My question is How Much Virtual Memory system required? How much virtual memory you have allocated? i think we should set virtual memory to 1.5 times the amount of ram you have. My PC have 0.99 GB 667Mhz of ram. HDD 20GB 7200rpm and windows xp. so How much virtual memory should i set?

Let the Windows decide it by its self, i usually do that only. But if you want to set it by yourself then i advice you to set it twice than your physical space if you having enough HDD space free. because the only problem with this is , its consumes your HDD space.

Re: How much virtual memory should i use?

It fully depends on what your memory requirements are. For playing games, its good to keep the more virtual memory. The basic answer is 1.5 times the memory you have right now in your computer, but a good calculation to have is to set virtual memory to twice that of the physical. Setting a maximum can cause your computer to run out of RAM and lock up if you run enormous programs. Windows XP should detect the problem and make a suggestion to increase the size of your paging file thus avoiding a crash.
