Movie captured of VMware is too large

I have captured a video using VMware of some tutorials for my friends. The file i get is of .avi format with excellent quality but is very large in size. It is not possible to transfer the large movie to my friends. How do i decrease the captured .avi movie file's size..??

You can try to use any video converter and compress the video to reduce the size of the file. See this :

I tried to use a lot of video converters with predefined settings. Those gave me smaller video size but then the video is so distorted that its totally not understandable... Its not worth. I also tried custom settings like disabling audio but that didn't help too... Any other way?

The quality of the video depends on what encoding and decoding you use. Once the video is encoded and if you convert it to compress the size, the quality is obviously going to be ruined. Try to change the encoders and/or try changing the settings of WMware itself...
