Re: Activesync not installing on Vista

Most of the time activesync does not works on Vista, its better to use it on Xp.Vista uses the Mobile Device Center. you need to install the Windows Mobile Device Center because new version of ActiveSync is renamed 'Windows Mobile Device Center' and is compatible with Vista. You can use it easily to backup and synchronize your Pocket PCs.

It is totally compatible with your Windows Vista system. You can download Windows Mobile Device Center from Microsoft's official website.
System Requirements
  • Windows Vista™ Ultimate
  • Windows Vista™ Enterprise
  • Windows Vista™ Business
  • Windows Vista™ Home Premium
  • Windows Vista™ Home Basic
  • Windows Vista™ Server “Longhorn”

Re: Activesync not installing on Vista

If your PC is running Windows Vista, your synchronization settings will be managed through the Windows Mobile Device Center rather than Activesync .Only some software explicitly look for ActiveSync. Most just use a call to the installer service. I have a few Pocket PC around and none of the software I tried to install presented a problem and worked fine with Windows Vista and WMDC.you need install Windows Mobile Device Center. After installing it, please reboot and Sync Center will auto start, and allow connection to DMA in “Windows Mobile Device Center -> Connection Settings”

Foe help with Activesync, you see this:-

1. 0x86000107 ActiveSync Error
2. Activesync error 608
