sad Vista Service pack 2 problem

    hello guyz,

i am running windows vista service pack 1.

i downloaded windows vista service pack 2 via windows update, and when the dialog box came up with the service pack installer, i just agreed to the 'terms and conditions', and it asked me to restart my pc.

now, when i restarted my pc, without doing anything, it said 'service pack did install, reverting changes, dont turn off ur pc'.

now its just stuck there,,...I CANT EVEN BOOT INTO SAFE MODE BECOZ It displays the same screen, in safe mode too!

tried using system restore , booting using the vista DVD, but system restore said that no restore points were found.(wonder why service pack 2 installer didn't create one).

i am completely stuck at this point, and i really dont have the option of formatting.

any help would be really appreciated.

    thx in advance.

insert windows bootable disk ,boot your pc from it and do not go for installation use R for repair then in next window type chkdsk and enter after completion of process restart pc and boot normally.

In command prompt type "bcdedit" and if it shows "the boot configuration data store could not be opened. the system can not find the file specified.", you must use the vista installation CD repair.and you have to delete c:\boot directory then repair again If it does not found any problem and says not dectects any problem about startup.

you can use System Restore to solve this problem use Bootable Vista dvd then Choose language >>Repair computer>>System Restore and restore system to any previous point. check here to better Disable or Enable Windows Vista System Restore and Change and limit system restore space in Vista
