How to open .MDI Files on MAC

How can I open .MDI Files on MAC computer? Do I need Office 2007 to open it? If not then how can I view this file.

I know .mdi belongs to Microsoft and can be opened using Microsoft Office Picture Manager. But I am on MAC OS X. Is there any open source standard of Microsoft software which can help to open this file?

What do you mean by opening te file? Do you want to edit it or just view the file? However if you just want to see the file then you can use QuickTime. It will definitely open the .mdi file.

MDI file is a proprietary Microsoft file. I am not sure whether Mac programs can open this kind of file. MDI only works in Office for Windows platform. However you can use Adobe software (such as Photoshop or Photoshop Elements) to read the file.
