How to reset bios with cmos battery on toshiba satellite a135

Hi,
I have toshiba satellite a135 laptop. When i restart it, the Bios screen ask for a password. I want to reset the password of bios for the same. Anyone suggest me something on that?

You need the newest bios update, may be it's 1.60. You can download it from toshiba's website. It will make a floppy or bootable cd, or has a windows utility if you can boot. You can press F12 on start up to select boot device, and use the appropriate device to flash the bios. It will fix the error.

It might be worth trying to boot up just from the battery as that works sometimes. Generally there is a jumper next to the CMOS battery. A "Password" prompt may be displayed when the computer is turned on, even though no power-on password has been set. If this happens, there is no password that will satisfy the password request. Follow these steps:

• Remove Laptop Battery
• Remove Memory Cover
• Spread spring clips to outside and
• pull out RAM memory
• Remove clear vinyl label opposite RAM memory slots
• In the upper left corner you will see JOPEN1 with a white silkscreen square

Inside the square you will see what looks like the letter T over a U. Using a metal paper clip short the U to the Silver 1/4"post connecting the motherboard to the laptop case and hold it for 25 -30 seconds. Place back your RAM memory, put in the laptop battery and test start laptop. you should see a selection of F1 or F2 for setup. Using the F2 gets you into the Bios menu where you reset the time and date. Then Tab over to the SECURITY setting tab and change your passwords. Then hit F10 key

This worked on my a135-s4527. It was a little tricky getting that vinyl cover off but it worked like a charm. BIOS pwd is cleared

I cant find where to jump the bios on my satellite a215 s5818, if someone could show me that would be great.

Place one end of the clip inside the yellow square (PAD503) and touch the other end on the metal post. Hold it there for 30 seconds or so then tada! Bios is cleared

It didnt work.... take the "battery HD memory" out plug power cord in then jump for 30 sec??? do I press the power button or ????

No, the power should be completely off, unplugged, and the battery pulled.

Follow the instructions posted by MrChris. It seems to be working well. That's what I did but there were a few minor differences.

My laptop was not labelled JOPEN1. Nothing even close, so I looked for the "Inside the square you will see what looks like the letter T over a U". Once I found that I touched the clip ends to short it... the whole time I'm thinking this is never going to work... but it did On the pic you posted there is a yellow square around the spot in question.

Maybe try it a few times to make sure you got the connection right?

Hello I am attempting to do this on a satellite a135-s4527 and no where under the memory do I see anything that resembles a TU Can someone help me out? Here is what I see...

In the upper right you will see a square labeled J1. Inside the square is the TU thingie... that's what you want. I did this on the same model and it worked
