You just have to remove the small battery from the inside of the laptop for the bios, and the jumper for clearing the CMOS. If it still doesnt work then all you need to do is flash the BIOS version of your toshiba satellite laptop, so that the bios passwords gets reset and will be either set to default or you will have to manually input the password.

In that case I would recommend you to take your laptop to a computer repair shop as they have all the equipments to remove the soldered CMOS battery. Doing anything wrong will result in bad damage to the laptop and you wont be able to use the laptop any more, normally a little amount would have to be paid for this services.

I think that the default password for every toshiba satellite laptop is 0000 and the master password is 0937 or 3570. Try that and check if it works out or not. Another thing is, to reset the password of a Toshiba, you can use KeyDisk. If this doesn't work, you can try to build the Toshiba Parallel loopback.

Have you tried removing the Cmos Battery to check whether the bios passwords get reset or not. If it doesn work then try to flash the BIOS version of your toshiba satellite laptop to the latest version or some old version which will revert back it to factory settings and the default password will be set for the bios.

Toshiba Satellite A135-22276 Won't Boot
Hello everyone! I'm new here. I hope someone could help me with this problem.
I have a Toshiba Satellite A135-S2276 laptop, Windows Vista Home Basic. This laptop has a known problem with BIOS that sometimes results in a password request even when a password hasn't been set. Warranty is expired so I tried to fix it myself.
Here's what I did:
- Cleared the BIOS by grounding the "U" pad near the JOPEN1.
- Turned it on, pressed F2 to get into the BIOS menu.
- Reset time and date.
- Went to SECURITY setting to change time and date and reset the passwords for both users and admin.

Here's the problem:
It froze when I tried to change the password. It wouldn't save, exit - nothing. After waiting for a few minutes, turned it off by pressing the power on button.

After a couple of minutes, turned it back on but NOTHING happened:
-No Boot
-No POST (no beeps)
-No Fan
-No HDD activity (not spinning)

It has 5 System Indicatior Lights
- AC Power Power Light (Good)
- On/Off Light (Good)
- Battery Light (Good)
- HDD (On for a second, then immediately turns off)
- Bridge Media Adapter Slot Light (Not Applicable in my system)

I only have 1 RAM so I can't swap it out. Cleaned it with eraser- no joy. Turned it on without RAM - still same problem. I think it could be either my CMOS, RAM or MB. I want to know if someone had encountered this problem before, before I buy a new RAM and/or MB or even clear the CMOS because it's quite hard to get into. Monitor and graphic card is probably good.
Thank you very much in advance!

Re: How to reset bios with cmos battery on toshiba satellite a135

Thanks a lot. I've tried both, but now, it won't boot. There is no POST (no beeps), No Fan, No HDD activity (not spinning)

Out of 5 System Indicatior Lights, only three remains lit.
- AC Power Power Light (Good)
- On/Off Light (Good)
- Battery Light (Good)
- HDD (On for a second, then immediately turns off)
- Bridge Media Adapter Slot Light (Not Applicable in my system)
Thanks again for your help.

Re: How to reset bios with cmos battery on toshiba satellite a135

Hi Jake04,

When you say that your hard drive turns of then can you check whether it is detected in the BIOS or not, cause it could be failing? Also can you turn on the laptop without using the battery and see if it is booting properly. It could be also that the main power supply could have blown, so you might have to change the fuse and let it boot.

Re: How to reset bios with cmos battery on toshiba satellite a135

There is no HDD activity at all. The HDD indicator LED would be lit for about half a second after turning it on -then it would immediately go off. I don't think it's the HDD though because even with a bad HDD, it should at least be able to go to BIOS/POST. I verified that my power (both AC and bat) were good. I have power using either AC or just battery so I know that's not the problem. I just bought a RAM and that didn't solved the problem as well. I'd probably have to buy a new MB.
