PC runs slowly while "Loading personal settings"

Hello Friends,

I'm having a Compaq laptop running Windows Xp on it. The problem is that it runs extremely slow at the time of booting into Windows. It takes it's own time to load the personal settings on the system. I had disabled all the startup items and also had disabled the other number of services from my pc. But it still works very slow. Can any body tell me that what can i do in order to increase the speed of my system pc? Kindly help me out to resolve the above issue. Any kind of help on the above issue would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Hey are you trying to logging into a domain? If, yes then you can use your user profile account on your stystem. is there any files or folders on your desktop? If, yes then move them to your My Documents Folder. Try to shutdown the Automatic Updates, if you had installed on your system.

Make sure that your DNS is configured correctly. Your Domain computers must only point to an AD domain controller running DNS with the zone for the domain and there shoud never be an ISP DNS server anywhere in the list. Domain controllers must point only to other AD domain controllers running dns. Most misconfigured DNS is the root of a many AD problems.

You can also try to set a manual ip to each machine and for alternate DNS, put the ip of the server there and that will help you to resolve the issue.

For Example:-

Quote:
IP address from router
Subnet mask
Default gateway from router

DNS from router
Alt DNS ip from server

You also try to run the Defrag program at least once a week on your system, by using the Disc Clean up program to clean up old cookies. This activity will help you to speed up your computer.
