Unable to run GIMP on a dual booting system

    Hey Guys,

I'm running Fedora Core 9 along with Windows Vista as my dual booting system. The problem is that when i try to run GIMP from Graphics submenu, i can not run it on my system. Whenever i try to click on it, a twirling around the cursor takes place for few moments and then it stops automatically showing nothing on the screen. Can any body tell me that why i'm unable to run GIMP on my system? Does any body knows about this issue? Kindly help me out to get rid of this issue. Any kind of help would be appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

The problem is in the libbabl library, which should have been installed as dependency of gimp. Try to look how many libbabl objects have you installed on your system:
sudo ldconfig -p | grep libbabl

gimp-win-remote is a program that allows the user running 9x/2000/XP to open a graphic file in an already running GIMP process. If GIMP is not running, it will launch it for the user and open the requested files.

I had removed the libbabl files from /usr/local/lib, and now my gimp is up and now its working absolutely running fine on my system.
