Grub Error 21 With Loading

Hello , I have Linux installed Pc , Yesterday There was a Sudden Power Failure , Which lead to Accidental Shutdown on my pc , when the Power was Back I restarted my Pc , Got this Grub loading Error 21 , I Have installed Windows Vista in Dual boot , so For now i Am using Windows Vista System .can You Tell me How Can I solve this Grub error 21 , Since i am Not Able to get the solution please help me Solve this, Thanks

Hello , grub can be thought of as a separate mini OS. Its purpose is to act as the loader for other OSs. It uses its own nomenclature for drives andpartitions which is unique to itself. error 21 means that grub is looking for the grub configuration file on a disk that does not exist. Take a look at /boot/grub/grub.conf and see which disk the kernel and initrd parameters point to. They should point to the same disk where /boot is located.

hello , I Think You Should use a Super Grub Disk for booting either operating system with for now. or better an Easy way is to boot from a live linux cd, and start a text editor after mounting the root drives. look for /boot/grub directory and then look for an entry like this

title Debian GNU/Linux, kernel 2.6.18-5-686
root (hd0,0)
kernel /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.18-5-686 root=/dev/hda1 ro
initrd /boot/initrd.img-2.6.18-5-686
savedefault

make sure the path is correct.. if you are using sata drives it will need to read sda1 not hda1, and if you have xp it will probably be somewhere totally different like /dev/hda..sda..2/3/4/

hello , I Think you need To Fix your Mbe and To fix it You Do Need an bootable xp cd just boot to a real XP CD and press R for the Recovery Console, then at the text line prompt just type in this; fixmbr Hope it Should help you
