    Ethernet connection problem on Kubuntu

    hi,
    I installed Kubuntu with XP dual-boot. I have Internet without a problem since XP, but when I turn on Linux and Konqueror, and then I try to open an Internet address like google, it does not work. I do not know how I can find drivers without access to the Internet.Any recommendations and suggestions are appreciated.

    LAN drivers are with the Operating System Drivers they are not seperate and shouldn't require a special download. If you do need drivers however that are seperate from the Operating System you will need Internet Access.

    How do you normally connect to the net with XP?

    Is it through your ethernet connection, or via a USB connection to your ADSL modem?

    If you normally connect through ethernet, does the modem provide you with an IP (ie, running a DHCP server), or is it a static address?

    You should be able to emulate the exact configuration on your windows ethernet interface via the network settings menu off the system->administration menu in ubuntu.

    If you tell us your current windows settings, we should be able to tell you how to get the equivalent under ubuntu.

    The Destination Host Unreachable error message means that a route to the destination computer system cannot be found. To remedy this problem, you might need to examine the routing information on the local host to confirm that the local host is correctly configured, or you might need to make sure that the default gateway information is correct. The following is an example of a ping failure that gives the Destination host unreachable message:
    Pinging 24.67.54.233 with 32 bytes of data:
    Destination host unreachable.
    Destination host unreachable.
    Destination host unreachable.
    Destination host unreachable.
    Ping statistics for 24.67.54.233:
    Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 0, Lost = 4 (100% loss),
    Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
    Minimum = 0ms, Maximum = 0ms, Average = 0ms
