question Problem with opening DVDs in Vista Home Premium SP 1

    Hi,

I am unable to open some DVDs in my windows vista. Whenever I am trying to open the contents of DVD in folder view, the green status bar on the top of the folder isn't completing. I have waited for over 15 mins but the green status bar is incomplete. When i try to copy the contents of DVD, the windows is going to "Not Responding" mode and getting stuck up. This is happening many times.

    Plz help me in this.

    Hey!
Is that only some DVDs can't be open? This might be because the dvd has scratches on it or may be the lense of your optical drive has become weak... Try a lense cleaner cd, might fix your problem...! All the best!!

No guarantees but maybe the following freeware would be worth a try:

    AVS DVD Player

    Hello ,

Go to Start/Run or at the command line type

    • 'Start Run' without the hypens.
    • Type gpedit.msc
    • Go to User configuration/Administrative templates/Windows components/Windows explorer
    • On the right pane, double click on "Remove CD burning features" tick the enabled button, then OK.
    • Reboot or logoff/logon to apply.

After inserting CD firstly try to look for viruses & malwares in your computer as in i think there might be some virus in that DVD or computer which is blocking it to RUN.

    OR

The DVD might be having some over loaded files in it so the DVD might have got corrupt so first try checking some one else computer that weather it is working or not.

Try checking your computer with Malwarebytes & Quickheal Avtivirus.

    Let me know what happens...

Re: Problem with opening DVDs in Vista Home Premium SP 1

This issue is happening only for some DVDs. I've bought a new empty DVD, burnt some files to it and when i again tried to open it...the green bar on the top is not completing...since it ia new DVD, it has no scratches at all. I've cleaned the lens also. I've used some game n movie DVDs and they were worknig fine. It is the same case only some DVDs. I've scanned all those with my McAfee antivirus and nothing ofund. I'll try the option suggested by Calvin n other unidentified user and will let u know.

    Thank you
