Grub Read error loading

hi,

I have problem with my Linux system, and hope that you can help me.

I have a mainboard replacement carried out, and then booted my Linux is not more. (Of which I expected.)

Grub always gave me the message: "Grub Read error loading" back. I have as my OS anyway I was pretty wasted simply decided Suse Linux 11 to install.

Installation went without problems, and system booted.

Did then the PC re-started yesterday evening, and I just wanted to re-boot.

Now I do, however, the message "loading Grub Read Error"

What does this mean?
I have nothing on the hard disks, etc. changed.

I guess it still needs some things?
Since I still do not know exactly what I need, I can give you nothing.

Re: Grub Read error loading

Hi,

The launch of Linux would probably fail because of the initrd is not likely to now all the necessary modules were available. The journey of a new installation was therefore correct.

And now it looks as if Grub is not installed correctly was (Read error: A disk read error happened while trying to read, the stage2 or stage1.5.).

Re: Grub Read error loading

Hi,

Check this :

Code:
root (hd1,0)
Shouldn't this be:

Code:
root (hd2,0)
Hope this helps...

Re: Grub Read error loading

Hi,

Have you got some unusual partitioning scheme?? By that I mean, is /boot on the same partition as /? You can use the installation disc as a liveCD to boot the computer and access your linux files, so you could have a look at your /etc/fstab to make sure it's pointing to the right place for the /boot partition. Also, you could check to make sure /boot/grub contains the stage2 file.
