iPOD Driver for Windows 7 available

    Hello,
I have this Ipod classic 160gb with me and recently I downloded and installed Windows 7 on my pc. Now the problem is my whenever I connect my ipod it doesnt detect it. Previously on my windows xp system it used to be detected and I was able to see it being recognized as a flash drive and then I used to transfer data and all. But here in Windows 7 my ipod doesnt gets detected, so if you know of any driver for the ipod for Windows 7 that I can download it would be great. Thank you

Have a look at the Apple support site

    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1538

"iPod is not recognized properly by computer when USB drivers are not installed properly or are out of date"

    and http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/five_rs/

Hardware device support comes from the manufacturer of the hardware device.
There are many users that are not having problems using all types of iPods in the W7 beta?
You might want to check with Apple support for any known issues with this device.

The device may need a Firmware update.
Connect the device on a XP machine and check if there is a firmware update for it.

    Hope that helps.

If Apple cannot give you a driver for that device, it's likely it will not work in Windows 7 until they do.

Hi mate, I've had the exact same problem and just this minute found the solution. Go into control panel>system and security>administrative tools then double click on computer management. This brings up a new window... then... on the left side click on device manager and click on the little arrow or plus sign next to the Universal Serial Bus Controller option. Find the iPod in there (hopefully!) and right click and update. If it's not in there, it may be one of the USB mass storage devices, so update those. If it's still not one of those (mine wasn't but that's where Apple said it would be) have a look in Portable Devices, which is further up the list of devices to be managed. Then update. This worked for me on Windows 7 Home Premium, so yeah.. hope this works for you too!

    Good luck!

Cameron, thank you so much. I registered to this forum because you are the man and I had to say thanks. You ended a month of frustration and misery. Apple and Microsoft didn't seem to have the answers on their forums, but you did. You are a god among men. Thanks again and take it easy.

Wouldn't it be quicker to go to Start_control panel_Device manager?

I will advise you to take the backup of the device and then reset the device and then connect it to the computer. and check whether you are getting the connectivity or not. Also try to connect your device to any other computer and check whether you are getting the connectivity or not. If nothing is working then visit the Apple store and let them know about your issue.

This is what work for me. Go to Control Panel, under Hardware and sound click on View devices and printers. Under Unspecified, you will see your Ipod.
Right clik on it and click on Properties, go to the Hardware tab and clik on Property. In that new window click Change settings and another window will open. Go to the driver tab and select Update Driver. Then follo the instructions to update and wait for the magic.

    Good Luck

    Hello there !

I have a very similar problem to this and didnt found any solution yet..hopefully some smart person here will be able to help me. First it has been awhile since i used my itune store because i didnt needed to and did a format of my computer after the last time i used it..so i had to upload my library etc and start from scratch. I downloaded a couple new games, everything was working fine..then when it came the time to sync and put these games on my ipod touch 2 gen the installation failed. I retried again and it keeps failing again and again so i choose to do a restore on it and expecting the problems would be solved. Problem wasnt not solved at all and it said an error (6) occured and i have the image on my ipod of the white cord trying to connect to itune store.

Restore doesnt work at all and it seems like my ipod is totally useless as i can use it anymore. I did the diagnostic..it said no ipod were found. I also did the check up thing for the technician so ill paste it here maybe it will give some clues..

Thank you tons for the help !
