    idea Windows Storage Server 2003

Hi, I am planning to buy a Hp proliant Server with Windows Storage server. Can anyone tell me if this server can exist on its own without a Windows 2003/2008 server. All I need is to be able to use this server as a share on the internet where some of my clients can use the space. Also my clients will need to VPN into the server via windows PPTP, so this feature is essential as well. I want to provide the server with a Static IP and share it on the internet via VPN as a Network Share.

    Thanks.

    Hey!
You can make a file server on your computer with any OS. All you need is static IP and a VPN software and a large hard disk space...! All the best...!

According to me, Hp Proliant Server (comes with Microsoft’s Windows Storage Server 2003 R2 or Windows Unified Data Storage Server 2003 pre-installed and storage pre-configured.) is meant for such solutions. It is best for your need what I suppose. So you can go with Hp Proliant Server. It features high-performance standalone network file storage that is fast to deploy and easy to scale and manage, or boost the value of your SAN/array by enabling new data services on it with a SAN Gateway.
