Windows vista disconnects from network frequently

Hey Guys!
I have been using vista since a year. It quite annoying when the Vista UAC pops up each time to run an application. Apart from this i have a weird problem with my network. When in the middle of the work the network gets disconnected. Also when transferring a large file say more then 1 GB, it hangs in the middle of the transfer and you have to force quit it and try several times before it is done successfully. Any fix available for this problem? Help Guys! Thanks...

I have the same problem but I'm connected wirelessly. Every few minutes, vista disconnects me from the network. There has to be a fix for this annoying issue. This computer was working just fine with Windows XP, network and all. Vista is such a resource hog where it brings down other devices... So i switched to Ubuntu...!

Hey!
If you are using windows vista 32-bit or 64-bit try turing off ipv6. Another solution is open cmd and type :

ipconfig /renew

that should keep your internet or network connected till you reboot your computer. Well i'm not aware of any other fix....!

I don't know what this does but there are a lot of people mentioned this on other forums. Thought this might help you too. Well all you have to do is open command prompt by typing "cmd" in run then in command prompt type :

netsh int tcp set global autotuninglevel=normal

Check windows update if there are new drivers available for the network device. Maybe it is a driver issue.

I used to have the same problem, and it would happen frequently. But once i updated the network drivers, the frequency has greatly reduced.

Now i am onto the next vista problem...apps that hang frequently!
