Folders Keep Opening In New Window

Hi

Everytime i click on a folder it opens in a new window all the time i have changed the folder options but still get the problem

I found another thread with this problem but i get a error when running regsvr32

Hello , you can Try again.. in folder option and make sure to click... apply... then.. ok. Then go under... View... click... apply to folders.. then.. ok. This then will apply to all folders. and other solution to this problem is to register a dll file like this start > run "regsvr32 /i shell32.dll" it will do the job !Check if your are doing spelling mistake overs or not Hope it will help you

Try again.. and make sure to click... apply... then.. ok.
Then go under... View... click... apply to folders.. then.. ok.
This then will apply to all folders.

If it's when surfing the net.. You need to go to Internet Explorer > Properties > Advance > Find... Reuse windows for launching shortcuts.. and uncheck.. then apply and ok.

I had this same problem and I found a fix for it .

Start: Run: "regedit"

1. Locate the Default value under the following key in the registry:
2. HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\shell, double-click "Default" in the right pane
3. Type "none" in the "Value data" box, click OK, and exit the registry editor.

Works like a charm

You can also substitute "explore" for "none" if you want to see the little folder heirarchy tree whenever a window is opened. Apparently "open" is taken a bit too literally.

Open regedit(Start->Run and type in regedit.exe)
Go to the key:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\shell
in here, just ensure that there are no keys that say "Open","Explore" are
present....if they are, right-click on Shell, export the registry key to a
file, and erase the "open","explore" keys underneath shell.
if it fails, double click the file we exported above and merge it back.

Note:
Editing/deleting registry entries can be harmful to your computer if you do anything wrong. If you mess up with the registry, your windows may CRASH. If you dont have fair knowledge about registry, then dont try this. take help of expert if possible.
