How to see folder size in Windows Explorer

Hi ,

How do I get the size of folders to show up in Explorer without have to run my mouse over the folders? I have windows vista 64 bit as my operating system.

Re: How to see folder size in Windows Explorer

Hi,

There are not any options within Windows Vista to get the size of folders to show in Explorer, only the size of files will show up. Your only option is to hover over with the mouse like you said, or right-click the folder and select properties. Please let us know if you have any more questions.

Re: How to see Windows folder size in Explorer

Hi,

To display folder size in Windows Explorer :
  1. Open a dos prompt and get a directory listing
  2. Open the properties for the folder
Wouldn't it be great if the folder size could be displayed right in Windows Explorer, just like it does for file size?

Re: How to see Windows folder size in Explorer

Hi,

Sequoia View is a very useful tool to do some nifty things with your folders. Other than that, this following note is now showing its age. If sorting and such is not necessary, a simple mouse-over your folders in Explorer will show you a tooltip with an approximate size of your directories. The menu option Tools --> Options --> View --> Show file size in folder tips should let you control the behavior of this tooltip.

Re: How to see folder size in Windows Explorer

Just point to the folder and the size should show up in a tooltip. If it doesn't, click Organize, choose Folder and Search Options , click the View
tab, select "Display file size information in folder tips" and click OK.
