Removing write protection on drive

I run into one (I think) big problem. I am not the big nerd and have certainly not tried everything, which is why I ask you for advice. There has been that all my C: drive is write protected and I can not remove the write protection. My question then is how I do it. I am running Windows XP Home Edition and my file system is NTFS.

Is it your entire C drive is write protected?

If it "only" is because you have problems to delete individual files, you should look a little closer at file removal tools available free on web.

Have tried to unlock but it is not what I'm looking for. I have some folders in "My Documents" that I want to be some files into, but I can not because the folders are write protected. When I go into C:\ all folders and subfolders are read-only, and I can not change them.

Perhaps there is an easier way, but here's my suggestion.

Double click on "Computer/My Computer/My Computer"

Right click on your C drive - select "properties"

Select Features

Press the "check now"

Hmm, do not know if it can be. Next time I reboot, it will at least start. But on google it says everything possible from command prompt (cmd.exe) Has fumble with it for a long time now. When I try to remove the write protection then says "not resetting hidden file - C:\Documents and Settings\[NAME]\ntuser.ini
Is it too dangerous to delete the file? and if I delete it, I can virtually remove write protection?

And with restart is probably because windows can not run a scan disk while the system is running - so it has scheduled a disk scan next time you restart - it is quite ok (but may take a long time).

I am more sure ntuser.ini but it does not sound as a file you need to delete.
