IsThreadDesktopComposited could not be located

OS = Windows XP Pro (all upgrades to date).

Following the upgrade of windows live messenger, I get an error that says

Quote:
“The procedure entry point IsThreadDesktopComposited could not be located in the dynamic link library USER32.dll”
Moreover my print server stopped working. The program loop in the search for the server.

Is there someone who has the same problem or solution?

Re: IsThreadDesktopComposited could not be located

Even the latest "USER32.DLL" version (5.1.2600.3099) for WinXP does not
have that entry point. Therefore, at least one system file (and not USER32.DLL) has been replaced with the Vista version of that system file.
That system file will be hard to find.

Re: IsThreadDesktopComposited could not be located

Cause

This issue occurs when the dwmapi.dll has been installed in the Windows\System32 folder.

Quote:
Note: dwmapi.dll is a Windows Vista file that may have been installed by another application.
Resolution

To resolve this issue, remove the .dll file by following the steps listed below:

1. Click Start, and then click My Computer.
2. Double-click the hard disk icon for the drive where Windows is installed. In most cases this will be C:\.
3. Double-click the WINDOWS folder, and then double-click the system32 folder.
4. Browse to the file dwmapi.dll.
5. Right-click the file, and then click Delete.

Re: IsThreadDesktopComposited could not be located

I got this similar error on my system. I searching out google I found out that the error comes out on the system when a application fails to start or launch something. This appears if the user32.dll is not properly located. The best solution for this is to go in C:\Windows\System32 folder and then look for dwmapi.dll. If you found that then delete the file and reboot your system.
