Disable auto-detection of folders in Vista

Well, I hope you are aware of the auto-detection feature of windows Vista.
which means - Once Vista knows what type of files are in the folder, it can show the detail columns appropriate to that that file type.

The problem with this feature is that if you mix file types in a folder (which always seems to happen), the auto-detection can get messed up very quickly.

How do I get rid of this ? how can I disable auto-detection in vista ?

Windows Vista does not allow you to disable this auto-detect "feature" in Explorer. However, you have to customize the columns shown in the folder. But doing this for every folder that it incorrectly auto-detects gets old real quick.

There is an easier way to handle this. ExplorerView allows you to completely disable the auto-detection that happens in Explorer. You can customize the columns you want shown in the details view, and then it stays that way for all of your Folders.

What you may do is uninstall the software that runs the virtual drive...

Just look through the add/remove programs dialogue and remove it from there. If it's not listed, you should be able to see what programs are starting using jv16 powertools.
