To cleanup the Windows.old folder,
Click Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Disk Cleanup > Options > Select Files from all users on this computer.
Click the Disk Cleanup tab, and then look for the Previous Windows installations check box.
Select Previous Windows installations. click OK.
This will remove the Windows.old folder.
Run Disk Cleanup in Windows Vista. I did it before. It will delete and remove the Windows.old folder and its files.
Yes the Disk Cleanup utility does a great work. Just make sure you check all the checkboxes afterwords, to have everything cleaned up.
