    Re: Configuration File named.conf

The named.conf file is a series of statements using options that are included within braces, (). Administrators should be very careful when changing the named.conf file and must pay particular attention not to make mistakes because of syntax errors apparently prevent the start of the named service.

Do not manually edit the file / etc / named.conf and other files in the directory / var / named / if you do not use the Configuration Tool Domain Name Service at the time changes. Any manual change in this file or any file in that directory will be overwritten when the next use of the Configuration Tool Domain Name Service.

    Re: Configuration File named.conf

A named.conf file can contain comments and will contain a number of clauses which group together related statements which control the functionality and security of the BIND server.

BIND provides a number of comment formats as follows:
    Code:
/ * C style comment format needs opening and closing markers
** But allows multiple lines or * /
      / * Single lines * /
/ / C + + style single line comnents format no closing required
      # PERL / SHELL style comments single lines no closing required
