    Hey there...!
If you use an older Operating System on a newer Machine What do you expect to happen? Anyways, Download the hard disk management tool from your hard disk manufacturer's website. and run the tool to check if your hard disk is damaged. If everything is fine perform "Zero Fill" or low level format of your hard disk...! This will erase all the data that might exist on the hard disk and create a hard disk as a new one ready to initialize...

    Hey...!
Make sure all your IDE/SATA cables are working... Make sure your CD is working. Set First Boot device "CD" in boot device priority... Now boot with CD and Delete all the partitions on the drive. MAke new partitions as suites you... All the best...!
