    AdvPack.log

A few days ago I found in the Winnt folder, the file AdvPack.log,
Since it is clear that Advpack.dll repeatedly loaded and unloaded again.
At the time I was online and just visited the Windows Update.
Is this the log been created? Very probably likely.
Advpack.dll is on the web in connection with adware / spyware called.

Can someone please times with Windows 2000 to look, even if such a log was created, as he has visited Windows Update? I is not noticed until now.
What makes AdvPack is also not clear to me, except that it seems a necessary file.

    Re: AdvPack.log

    hi,

You might have remove all of the (OLD) uninstall directories with names like $something$ which are hidden in the WinNT directory:

    dir /ad /od $*$

This command will setup to delete it:

    for %a in ('dir /ad /od /b $*$') do @echo rd /s /q %a

The above will NOT do the "delete" or "remove directory" but merely
echo the correct commands onto the command screen so you can copy
and pasted them AFTER you determine they are correct.

[ rd /s /q is TOO dangerous to use without checking. ]

Also look for OLD log files in System32\logfiles etc if you have IIS
    installed.

Advpack.dll should not be disabled, required for essential applications to work properly.

    Re: AdvPack.log

I have already deleted the older uninstall directories. We've moved
most of the log files (IIS, event, system, application and SMTP) but then why it shows ??
