Windows 7 on the USB stick

Is it working in reality?? So as you can run it.
But then you have to do well so that the USB stick cure first or it must surely have a mega Usb stick type 8-16 GB for it?

Re: Windows 7 on the USB stick

No I have not heard of. But you can install Windows XP / Vista / Seven from usb memory. I have tried this and it works great, 4 GB USB memory stick is enough.

I think I have seen that you can have some operating system to run from USB memory stick but can not remember what it was, linux or XP, a little maybe?

A Windows Seven USB storage would be extremely slow and pull out the USB memory.

Re: Windows 7 on the USB stick

There are lots of Linux distro that can run from USB memory, and a hacked XP little example! We can just get the computer to boot from USB, so it should also be able to run Windows 7 from a sufficiently large memory!

Re: Windows 7 on the USB stick

Running Windows 7 on a USB memory stick is not realistic because the memories are not large. However one can usefully run Windows 7 on a Solid State hard drive in a flash media, which is large enough.

Re: Windows 7 on the USB stick

You see, time goes faster than you think, I thought 16GB was the max. Am stumped for a while...

Windows has so far as I know never had to install on removable disks or storage media, not the USB hard drive and no USB devices. It is probably a better reason why it is not realistic to install and run Windows from a USB stick.
