windows stuck in loop of scandisk and bluescreens?

I m facing a problem with the machine while booting the system it goes through windows loading screenthen then moves through scandisk & then it shows the blue screen writen many things in white text maybe a fifth the screen then reboots displaying a start mode selection with options of safe mode or normally etc. Selecting Normal it boots to the Windows loading screen again, flashes a moment of the same blue screen and resets the cycle back to the start mode selection screen. If I turn it off and leave it, starting up again will produce the scandisk, after running its check the cycle repeats.

Have you tried booting from the XP CD, going to the recovery console, and typing the command:

chkdsk /p

at the command prompt?

I have booted with an XP disc. After loading everything I receive this error: "Setup can not detect any HDD installed..."

I have discovered my HDD to be Western Digital and tried the Western Digital diagnostics off the Ultimate Boot CD collection and they will not run, the WD Lifeguard programs runs, and other HDD diagnostic programs will run but not the WD ones.

EDIT #1: I tried a newer version of the Ultimate Boot CD suite and the HDD diagnostics ran. I received this message at the end of the Extended Test: "Smart Error. A worst case attribute is below threshold: Raw Read Error Rate, value: 17, thresh: 51, worst: 17."

I have tried but am unable to enter the windows boot menu in order to disable automatic restart on system failure so that I may view the blue screen STOP code.
