Can't install IP-Messenger on Ubuntu

Hey guys!
I have Ubuntu 8.10 from quite a long time. All my friends have windows and i don't want to install windows as i am quite happy with ubuntu. All our computers are on a LAN network and we use IP-Messenger to to communicate. Its a LAN IM software. The problem is i can't install the IPMSG on my computer. When i compile the source code it tell me unknown "dependency i386" Error. Help guys!

Try to download the .deb file which is an installer for ubuntu. Its just like you are installing an .exe file in windows... Hope this helps you... All the best!

Hey...!
You getting the unsupported dependency i386 error cause your linux is amd64 or you can say 64-bit while the software you trying to compile is for 32-bit architecture and cannot be installed in 64-bit OS. In windows 32-applications work in 64-bit OS but in linux its not the same...!
