Virtual Machine Won't Boot

recently i installed vmware under slack 9.0, everything went fine, till i tried to install the OS (XP) after that virtual machine ,it just doesn't power on, no matter what i do.it doesn't boot from the cdrom drive, it doesn't load the .iso image please help me solve the problem .

Did you attach the drive to the Virtual Machine in the VM's settings.there In the CD/DVD Drive Properties, under"Capture" the "Physical CD/DVD drive" box is ticked and the pull down will says, "Drive 'D'" which corresponds to the CD drive on the server

i use to have the same kind of problem, after reboots or something (cant exactly remeber what all caused the problem) i would have to re-run the vmware-config file, believe its in the bin directory of vmware's folder

just check for proper loading of some modules for the filesystem support, dummy interface support, and ethernet support, which i did not need frequently, so i didn't bother to change the rc.modules file.
