I made the test, I did not see any difference, bearing I use enormously my key usb Sony 256mb (thus one can make fat32 in lower parts of 512 same 128mb)! Of origin it was as a conceited person.

Certain keys have a partition 1.44 to emulate diskettes. The diskettes being in FAT I suppose that all the keys are formatted in FAT of origin by simple principle.

Re: Key USB in FAT or FAT32 ?

The large difference which resides between the FAT16 and the FAT32 relates to the use of structure of the disc. Indeed, into FAT16, the disc is divided into clusters of 32 KB whereas in FAT32, the clusters make only 4 KB. The difference is enormous because it should be known that a cluster partly used by a file could not be used by another file.

For example, a file of 5 KB will take 2 clusters of 4 KB in FAT32 (either 8 KB of disk space) whereas it takes 1 cluster of 32 KB in FAT16 (or 32 KB on the disc).

For this reason it is said that one optimizes the disk space in FAT32.
