Re: Transfer email settings from Outlook Express to another computer

To transfer outlook express account settings from old computer to new computer, perform the following steps:
  1. Attach Removable media like Pen drive or USB drive to your computer system.

  2. Open Outlook Express

  3. Click Tools from the menu bar and select the Accounts option.

  4. The number of mail accounts configured in Outlook Express will be displayed.

  5. Select the account of which the settings are required to be transferred.

  6. Now click the Export button from right panel of the window.

  7. The window to save the settings file on any other removable media will be displayed.

  8. The Outlook Express mail account settings file will get saved in mail.servername.IAF file extension.

  9. Save it on the attached removable media.

To import the saved settings file to new computer, perform the following steps:
  1. Attach the Removable media to drive.

  2. Open Outlook Express

  3. Click Tools from the menu bar and select the Accounts option.

  4. Click the Import button from right panel of the window.

  5. Select the mail.servername.IAF file from the removable media and click Open.

  6. The .IAF file will get configured in Outlook Express
Thus the mail account settings of Outlook Express are successfully transferred from one computer to another. You can also modify these settings by selecting an account name and clicking Properties button from the right panel of the window.

You can use the Easy transfer I think to do that.

For the OE messages see www.oehelp.com/backup.aspx#oe2wm

Re: Transfer email settings from Outlook Express to another computer

The easiest way is to use Windows Easy Transfer.

http://windowshelp.microsoft.com/Win...449561033.mspx

To do it manually you would export your address book and account settings in XP to removable media. Copy the folder with the .dbx files to the removable media. On the Vista pc import the data into Windows Mail.
