installing xp 64bit on my laptop

when i put cd in my labtop it started to install but after a while it shows an error containing : unable to recognize hard disk , power your hard on or check your hard disk .

now what can i do for installing windows ????

There are some SATA Hard disks that need sata or raid drivers to be loaded. If you have the drivers then boot windows xp then press F6 to install those drivers

Try to remove the Hard drive attached to your system, check the cables connection whether its properly connected it may be that you might forgot to put the power supply cable to it,and attached again and start your system in the safe mode.

Your Hard disk is Sata or IDE ? I don't think there is any problem with Hard disk. put the same hard disk and same installation CD on an other system, If It installs without any hassles. I think the problem must be in Motherboard.

check the BIOS if your hard drive is getting detected... the problem might be your data cable or your power cable........
if your hard disk is a SATA the try changing the SATA cable...try connecting it to the another SATA slot.........

if its a IDE the do the same thing..........if you have two hard disk make sure you have master and slave configured correctly..................

even after this it doesn't detect try formatting your system

NOTE: open the system case and BIOS only if your are technically qualified
