While Setup, it asks for registered name and organization. However, one or both of these may change. As always, you should backup the Registry (tutorial) first before editing. Now follow this steps to change the user name:-

    1. Click on the Start Button and click Run

    2. Type regedit and click OK

    3. Expand HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE and Software

    4. Expand Microsoft

    5. Expand Windows NT and click on Current Version

    6. Right-click on Registered Owner and click Modify. Then, type the desired name and click OK.

    7. Right-click on Registered Organization and click Modify, and type the organization, if desired.

    8. Click OK when you are finished.

    9. Close the Registry

Now you can see your name as a registered user in MS office.

Earlier versions of Microsoft Office required to re-install the Office if the user wanted to changed the registered company. But now in Office 2000 and Office XP allows to change it in the registry.i'll let you know how can do it.

Open your registry. Then find the key for your version:

    Office 2000:-

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\ Uninstall\{00000409-78E1-11D2-B60F-006097C998E7}]

    Office XP:-

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\ Uninstall\{90280409-6000-11D3-8CFE-0050048383C9}]

Edit "RegCompany" and "RegOwner" values and set them to the required registered company and user names.
Then find the appropriate registry key for your version:

    Office 2000:-

    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\9.0\Common]

    Office XP:-

    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\10.0\Common]
Rename the "UserInfo" key to "OldUserInfo".

    Exit your registry.

Close all Office programs. Then restart one of the programs. The registered company should be changed.

Re: Change the registered owner in MS Office

You can follow these simple steps but don't do any mistakes during the process to change registered owner.
You can do this in office 2000 and office xp .

    For Office 2000:-

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\ Uninstall\{00000409-78E1-11D2-B60F-006097C998E7}]

    For Office XP:-

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\ Uninstall\{90280409-6000-11D3-8CFE-0050048383C9}]

Now change the value of "RegCompany" and "RegOwner" to the required registered company and user names.

Then find the following registry key for your Office version.

    Office 2000:-

    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\9.0\Common]

    Office XP:-

    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\10.0\Common]

And rename the sub-key called "UserInfo" to "OldUserInfo".

Exit registry and all office application .

    Now restart your system.

Think It should help you .
