Google earth does not open in ubuntu

Hello,
I am new in ubuntu, I installed Google earth 5 in ubuntu 8.10 but the opening boot stops after 3 seconds. I have redone the installation from GoogleEarthLinux.bin and the same problem the icon is in the shortcut I click the image of the planet arrives but soon disappears. I do not know what it takes to find a solution.

This is what you can try
1. sudo ./GoogleEarthLinux.bin
2. (when its finished and earth crashes) gksu nautilus
3. Go to /opt/google-earth and delete the libcrypto file (or rename it to libcrypto.so.0.9.8.bak)
4. exit nautilus
5. sudo googleearth (you MUST run it as root, otherwise it will give you a black screen.)

Hi,
go to the directory where you downloaded google earth in a shell. Then type "chmod +x GoogleEarthLinux.bin" and then "./GoogleEarthLinux.bin". A Installer shall popup and install google earth. You will find a new icon on your desktop after the installation.
