BSOD - PFN_LIST_CORRUPT error

I have been getting a lot of BSOD's since last week during start up containing the "PFN_LIST_CORRUPT" error. I suppose this has something to do with memory, but I may need some clarification. How to fix the error?

0x0000004E: PFN_LIST_CORRUPT

This indicates that the memory management Page File Number list is corrupted. Can be caused by corrupt physical RAM, or by drivers passing bad memory descriptor lists.

I believe you may have a ram problem.

Re: BSOD - PFN_LIST_CORRUPT error

How this is fixed varies depending on the reason of the bugcheck. Using Driver Verifier and the checked build of the O/S should allow you to pinpoint the driver that is either corrupting memory or mishandling MDLs. If the offending driver is not a driver that you have any control over, the only available option is disabling the driver until a fixed version is available.

I had this exact same error. However I have solved my problem by updating BIOS. Now it works flawlessly.

Re: BSOD - PFN_LIST_CORRUPT error

The PFN_LIST_CORRUPT bug check has a value of 0x0000004E. This indicates that the page frame number (PFN) list is corrupted. This error is typically caused by a driver passing a bad memory descriptor list.
