    Download Wine 1.1.15

Wine, soft layer of Windows compatibility for the UNIX system, has just appeared in a new version.

WINE (acronym for Wine Is Not an Emulator) allows you to run some Windows applications under a system based on Unix (GNU / Linux and BSD), without however being obliged to emulate the system completely.

The new version, 1.1.15 stamped Notably:
    • An update of the web rendering engine Gecko
    • Better support regional GDIPlus
    • Support for cross-compilation in winegcc
    • Start the MS Support Framework Text
    • Several fixes related to regression tests on Windows
    • Bugfixes various

You can now download WINE on the official website of the project or From here

Highly useful utility ... especially with Winetricks which allows for easier installation of various Windows components (DirectX,. Net, Flash, fonts, ...) Winedoors is a tool similar to Winetricks interface with a much more pleasant appearance.Unable to find simple tutorials and updated for Wine, installation no problem, but the config and use it ... It's crazy, if someone has one I'm interested

Wine really useful when there is no equivalent for some linux apps and it saves to keep a OS for a soft never had any worries, really great job and for you ,on the main page there is a database with a howto for each application, there is a FAQ and a wiki super detailed, but it is good if not a single effort

Well for my part, especially in steam, while going really well (no diff with windows), all C N C3 "had a little more difficult, if not in effect, it smoothly and the advantage over wine alone, it's really easy to install a game Coupled with playonlinux, my goodness it works rather well for a newcomer, I installed steam above, C & C3, even if the performance of the games are obviously a little worse than "native" windows.

Why do some people write WINE and not Wine? They are using the acronym "Wine Is Not an Emulator", the original name for the project. While recursive acronyms are clever, there really is no point to the capital letters. They look ugly, so please use the simpler, current name of the project: Wine. It's what we use.

It is a wrapper, a compatibility layer for POSIX compliant systems (Linux, * BSD, MacOS ,...). As for games, it depends heavily on graphics drivers and used a few times it works better than Windows, while others less well.It should have been clear that this is a development version and not a stable version.
