    Windows Vista SP1 installation failed

If i am running windows update to install windows vista sp1 the installation is getting failed. I'm getting this error:
    Failed: 1 update
    Error(s) found:
    Code 8024200D.

I tried also to install the service pack 1 by downloading the complete file from microsoft web site but still the installation failed.

An internal error ocurred while installing the service pack.

Error code:0x80070002. See http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=101139 for more details.

I did what was said in that link but still it is getting failed. Please help me. Thank you.

Well did you restart your computer after the installation finished? To verify if you have SP1 installed Click Start< Right Click on Computer and click Properties. The System Properties window will open. It will say the version of Vista you have installed and the Service Pack if its listed. If it says Service Pack 1 then it successfully installed. If it doesn't say SP1 then you can try the installation again.

SP 1 is crap! I also had the same problems with it not being able to install. Then it stuck me in the start up repair wizard. Had to completely reinstall vista and spend 3 days putting the computer back into working order. Stay away from sp1!!

    check this :
    http://www.microsoft.com/communities...e7e9d27076&p=1

    http://www.windowsreference.com/wind...indows-update/

After trying out the above solution you can use the R&R utility to backup all your data to an external drive and then reimage..If you do this i suggest doing it as CUSTOM and leaving off all unneeded/wanted software. then afterwards all your data will be on the external drive and easyly moved back to the main drive. You must have the external drive connected and turned on when powering up the laptop ot it will not be seen.

As far as the backups that are on the HDD from R&R
the drive is formated and reloaded from an IMAGE so it should not be leaving anything behind...you may also want to try to move to an older date.
