Unable to Overclock Windows Vista 64 Operating System

    hi there..........

I need to share some information here guys.

I did a fresh installing Vista64, updated the operating system but no activation yet.
Windows was booting ok at stock settings but as soon I load back overclocked bios then windows has stopped booting.

Windows recovery dispalys a message that there's an error because of recent hardware changed or new software installed. Need some repairing.
It does gets booted after it is repaired but won't boot as soon I overclocked again.

    Please help me in this...........

The ability to run Windows (and specifically the activation) has nothing to do with the BIOS. I'm sure you know you can even turn on the computer and adjust the BIOS to overclock without a hard drive installed.

I'm running Vista X64 on the test rig and it overclocks like a champ. It is activated, however, but I cannot imagine that an Activation has anything to do with the FSB or voltage settings in the BIOS.

Usually when that happens on an ASUS board it's either an unstable OC or some setting gone awry. I never had that problem on my Gigabyte board, but I do on ASUS, not sure why. Both my systems are ASUS though, I won't have my hands on the Foxconn Bloodrage for a little while yet, so I can't comment on other manufacturers at this point.

It is also possible that the version of nTune/Rivatuner that you are using are not Vista 64 ready. I would check with their respective sites. I know that nTune has version 6.01 that is vista capable. I also assume it is a driver problem due to the BSOD screen but I could be wrong. I have to admit that I have never had this problem, however I am running XP Pro. Just check which drivers you are using and update as necessary.

The 8800 GTS 512 is a great over clocker! Just remember to speed up the fan form the default 29%. I can easily reach 800/1750/1040 with not artifacting or heat issues with a fan setting of 60%.

ry two instances of Prime95, one on each core to fully load the CPU
(set the affinity inside Prime95), and let it run overnight for about 8
hours. Surely you can let it do that while you sleep.
