Is there some sort of config guide for beginners ?
Or can somebody tell me where to start learning ?

You can look at the Web site http://www.exim.org/docs.htm there is also a very well written book for Exim 4.x that you can purchase here http://www.uit.co.uk/exim-book/

I found the book to be very helpful.
