Windows Vista Unable to detect USB DEVICE ION Turntable

    hi there...........

I have been using an ION USB Turntable and now suddenly from few days my operating system Vista says it is an unknown USB DEVICE and cannot recognise it. There was a quick message which poped up the other day about using USB 2; but I was unable to spectate it because it would be quicker i was unable to read it. Has something changed in my USB setup that I don't really know about or is there any problem with my system?

Please help me to solve this problem..............

Re: Windows Vista Unable to detect USB DEVICE ION Turntable

    Follow these steps carefully:

    1. Click Start, type devmgmt.msc in the Start Search box, and then click devmgmt.msc in the Programs list.
    2. On the View menu, click Devices by connection.
    3. Expand the processor node. For example, expand ACPI Multiprocessor PC.
    4. Note The node names in this procedure vary depending on the hardware.
    5. Expand Microsoft ACPI-Compliant System.
    6. Expand PCI Bus. Several USB universal host controllers will be listed.
    7. Expand each USB universal host controller node, and then expand successive subnodes until you find the name of the device that is failing. For example, the device entry may resemble ACPI Multiprocessor PC\Microsoft ACPI-Compliant System\PCI Bus\Intel(R) ICH8 Family USB Universal Host Controller.
    8. When you have located the device, right-click the associated USB universal host controller, and then click Properties.
    9. Right-click Intel(R) ICH8 Family USB Universal Host Controller - 2830, and then click Properties.
    10. Click the Details tab.
    11. Select Hardware Ids in the list. Note the Hardware Ids that are listed. For example, the Hardware Ids may resemble the following:

    • PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_2830&SUBSYS_2A36103C&REV_02
    • PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_2830&SUBSYS_2A36103C
    • PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_2830&CC_0C0300
    • PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_2830&CC_0C03

    1. Click Start, type regedit in the Start Search box, and then click regedit.exe in the Programs list.
    2. Locate and then click registry subkeys that resemble the following:
    3. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{36FC9E60-C465-11CF-8056-444553540000}\Four-digit_number.
    4. Examine the DriverDesc registry entry and the MatchingDeviceId registry entry in each subkey. Look for a value that closely matches the Hardware Id value for the USB universal host controller name that you found in Device Manager.
    5. Locate and then click the registry subkey that you identified in the previous step. For example, click the following subkey:
    6. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{36FC9E60-C465-11CF-8056-444553540000}\Four-digit_number
    7. Four-digit_number is the registry subkey that represents the specific USB universal host controller. For example, the subkey will resemble the following:
    8. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{36FC9E60-C465-11CF-8056-444553540000}\0000
    9. On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click DWORD Value.
    10. Type ForceHCResetOnResume for the name of the DWORD, and then press ENTER.
    11. Right-click ForceHCResetOnResume, and then click Modify.
    12. In the Value data box, type 1, and then click OK.
    13. Exit Registry Editor.
    14. Restart the computer.

Re: Windows Vista Unable to detect USB DEVICE ION Turntable

    Perform these Steps:

    1. Go to the following location “%WinDir%/inf” [eg: C:\windows\inf by default]. Locate the file called “INFCACHE.1” and delete it.

    2. Download the following files given here

    3. There should be 3 files included, usbstor.inf,usbstor.PNF and USBSTOR.SYS.

    4. Search your windows folder for those following files and replace them (fore some this is not needed but to be on the safe side do this)

    5. Restart your PC

    6. Now plug in one of your USB devices that didn’t get detected earlier. Go to device manager there will be an unknown USB device or something similar with a question mark.

    7. Right-click select properties and in the driver tab select Update driver and for the driver location give %WinDir%/winsxs (you might be prompted several times always give the same location when prompted). You might get a warning saying about an unsigned driver or similar, just install anyway.

    8. After that you will get the driver installed successfully notice.

    9. Restart your PC.

Re: Windows Vista Unable to detect USB DEVICE ION Turntable

If the procedure below does not work then that's the time you delete the

INFCACHE.1 (or it's backup), not restored. Deleting the INFCACHE.1

immediately might give you this error message, "Destination folder access

    denied".

    1. Locate the file INFCACHE.1 in C:\Windows\inf

    2. Right click on the INFCACHE.1 file, select Properties >Security >

    Edit, and give
    your account full control.

    3. Delete INFCACHE.1, or rename it to INFCACHE.1.BAK or temporarily move

    to your desktop.

    4. Reboot the computer.
