Yes, there's. Fink, DarwinPorts, and so forth allow you, many GNU programs on your Mac to install. Portage (the Gentoo distribution) is also available for OS X.

And anyway, you can a lot of source code easy to compile on OS X than if there is no difference between the operating systems exist.

Depending on how much tinkering you can / want, there are many different solutions.

You need first the Developer package from Apple, in addition to a complex programming environment and various SDKs, documentation and utilities above all is: The GNU C compiler (gcc). You need the whole necessarily.

Go to developer.apple.com, you just register and download the XCode 3 Package download. It is about a gigabyte in size.

Then go on and read finkproject.org you through the documentation, in the stands as you install Fink, uses (and deinstallierst, if you do not meet).

If you have the source codes of programs directly on the hard drive and you want to compile by hand, then how does that work on any UNIX: ". / Configure & & make & & sudo make install". Here and there are times needs some extra love - but is then determined in the Readme.

Just read, read and read - it makes everything by themselves
